Automatic Telescopic Gate System.

As with the majority of blocks on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, space here is limited and maximised wherever it can be. The owner, working with their architect and landscape architect, cleverly designed this backyard with rear-lane access so it could provide parking for vehicles while also doubling as an entertaining area.

There was limited side room, so a standard Automatic Sliding Gate System was not an option. With the clients wanting to use the rear yard off the laneway, a swing gate system would have impeded on the area, a telescopic sliding gate system was the best option, fitting the same opening into roughly half the run-back of a single sliding gate.

We built the gate from an aluminium telescopic frame, then clad it for privacy so it sits within the fence line and screens the entertaining area from the lane. A domestic sliding gate motor with remote-control access automates it, giving the owners secure, hands-free entry off the laneway.
